One Crucial Factor to Consider Before Signing Up For Hosting

Before You Sign Up for Hosting…

I wanted to share something with you that came to us in an email yesterday.

But before I do that, I wanted to preface this by saying that we have almost twenty years of experience hosting our own websites, and using other companies to host our websites and have seen a lot of things.

WPEngineWPEngine is a premium hosting company that specializes in hosting WordPress sites. That is their drive, their passion, and they do it very well.

We’ve used GoDaddy to host our Real Estate Websites before, and HostGator as well, and we’ve found that there is a substantial difference between them and WPEngine. That is why we use WPEngine to host our Smart Sites! 🙂

Anyway, back to the email that came to us yesterday, the email was from Dennis at MainWP (a company that specializes in updates and security scans for WordPress sites) and this is what he wrote:

Jim,

We have been alerted to a possible security issue on GoDadddy Hosting

We were alerted by fellow MainWP user Ivica Delic … that WP Fix It Support Team is reporting a possible issue on GoDaddy hosting (this is not a MainWP issue).

Quote of WP Fix It email provided by Ivica Delic:

“More than 100 clean outs last 48 hours Godaddy has been hit hard AGAIN.

We have received over 100 tickets in the last 48 hours for malware cleanup. All of these sites have been hosted with Godaddy and that is not the only thing they have in common. All of these customers were also told by Godaddy that they can not help them.

If you host with Godaddy, we advise you to take immediate security measures to enhance the protection on your site”…

Once again this is not a MainWP issue and we are just relaying the important message to check your sites if hosted on GoDaddy.

Cheap Hosting vs. Good Hosting

100 problems in 48 hours! And that’s only counting the people who use GoDaddy and MainWP’s plugin.

On several occasions, we have had clients calling us because their site is down. Most of the time the calls have come from clients who use GoDaddy, HostGator or other hosting companies.

So, what am I trying to say here?

Getting Cheap hosting will get you Cheap hosting.

If that is what you are looking for, then this blog post probably isn’t for you, and you can just close your laptop now and check to see if you still have some ice-cream in the freezer.
