Why should you use the Speedy Widget addon?

One of the problems we see on clients' websites that use a lot of IDX Broker widgets, like Showcases or Carousels, is that their pages load really slowly.

This is because IDX Broker is serving up a full-sized photo of the properties, and all of those photos have to load on the page.

If you have just one widget with one or two listings, this isn’t a big issue. But if you have more than 25 images loading on a carousel or showcase widget, then you may have a heavy page (with 2 MB, 4 MB, or even more) which takes forever for clients to load and view.

How do I use the Speedy Widgets on my website?

1. Login to IDX Addons

First, you need to log in to IDXAddons.com with your IDX Broker API key.

Then you click on Apps and search for “Speedy”

2. Speedy Widgets

Then, select the Speedy Widgets option

3. Setup the widget

Now you have to select the IDX Widget you want to use under Available Widgets. If you don't see it in the list, just click on the Refresh button and see if it shows up.

Then you will select the theme you want to use from our list. You can see the themes below. If you want to use only one theme (recommended), just select the theme and click on “Set As Primary Theme”.

4. Default theme

When you select the Default theme, you will see this message. You can always change the default theme later.

Note that changing the Default theme will not change the theme your website widgets are already using.

This setting is used only for making it easy for you to find the theme you used before.

5. Setup the colors and fonts

After selecting the theme, you will want to change the default colors. To do that, click on the “Show color scheme” button, and it will show the current colors and fonts.

Each theme will ask for different colors, so you can change them there. If you are not sure what colors to use, you can always preview and change these colors later.

Notice that changing these colors will affect all widgets. So, if you use multiple themes, you will probably want to use CSS to change the colors of any specific theme.

6. Place your widget

After you finish all steps above, you will need to click on the “Get Speedy” button. This will automatically send the code generated to your copy clipboard.

Now, all you need to do is to paste the code on your website. You can also click on the “Preview” button and see how it looks like before adding it to your website.
